Is there a sin God will not forgive?

Many people think they have committed an unpardonable sin, a sin which God cannot forgive them for. But the question is, is it scriptural for a believer in Christ Jesus to commit an unforgivable sin? And besides, is there a sin God cannot forgive?

List of certain sins

Some people are of the view that there are certain sins which God cannot forgive. Some of them include murder, a lying tongue, unforgiveness, pride and more. All these and more are sins that cannot be classified as an unpardonable sins. I will not encourage anyone to engage him or herself in such acts, but, nonetheless, they are sins which God can forgive. God's grace and love far surpasses our sins, for where sin abounds, God's grace super abounds and overflows. These sins are impotent in themselves to exhaust the wonderful grace and mercy of God.

All our sins are forgiven in Christ Jesus

We have not yet attained to the level of sinless perfection, but deep down our heart we desire not to sin, but since we are living in a fallen world with a fallen nature, we will sin, but the good news is that our sins are forgiven in Christ Jesus.

Apostle Paul wrote this: I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven you for His name's sake-- 1 John 2; 12

Our sins are forgiven once and for all time, never to be repeated. Jesus perfect sacrifice has wiped away not only our past sins, but our future sins as well. His precious blood continually avails for us, it is an unspeakable gift of blessing to have the sins of my entire life freely forgiven. In Christ Jesus, we do not only have redemption through his blood, but also an eternal remission of our sins.

What is the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit?

Matthew 12:31-32

"Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

When you read the pre-texts, you will see that the people were attributing Jesus works in casting out demons by the power of the Holy Spirit to demonic powers. So, to attribute Jesus healing power by the Spirit to Beelzebub is what is known as the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. The religious leaders at that time were in danger of committing the unpardonable sin, but none of us can be guilty of this sin, why? Because Jesus is not physically present here to refer to his works by the energy of the Holy Spirit to devils. Some people are living in fear of committing the unforgivable sin. Others also feel they have disrespected the Holy Spirit, hence, they are guilty of the unpardonable sin and such thinking has produced false guilt in their lives.

The unpardonable sin

The only sin which will not be forgiven in this life and in that which is to come is the sin of unbelief. Forgiveness of sins is only in Christ Jesus, so whoever that rejects him and unfortunately dies without faith in him shall experience eternal damnation. It is written: He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him"-- John 3; 36

The wrath of God rests upon those who do not have any relationship with Jesus Christ. Those who persistently hardens their heart against the gospel of Christ, and dies in unbelief do not have any hope of salvation, because there is no second chance for salvation after death.

Peradventure, if you have no personal relationship with Jesus Christ, then you need to trust in Jesus Christ for salvation, lest you will be eternally separated from him (John 3; 16). God bless you

A thought to ponder 🤔

The wrath of God rests upon those who do not have any relationship with Jesus Christ

We defend and exposit the truth of the gospel
